[Seo-Gu/Restaurant] Suil Tongdak (Chicken)

Did you know there were two very special chicken restaurents in Gwangju?
They are 'Su-il' and "Yangdong Sijang' Chicken!

Several chain stores are on the street so it is not hard to find them.
But original ones are on 'Chicken street' in Yang-dong traditional market.
Let's try Suil Tongdak(chicken) today!

01 ｜Visit

 Both Yang-dong and Suil chicken restaurents are located oppsite to each other.

Surprsingly, they don't fight to attract more customers

because they don't worry about it. There are always a big crowd of people.

 I could see they both constantly cook fried chicken.

 When I entered inside, it was packed with people even though it was only lunch time.

 This is the menu. It is as the simplest as it can get.

Choose either fried chicken or sauced one

and either halves or a whole chicken.

 (You can choose two different flavors, too in case of ordering the whole chicken)

​You can even choose one and a half in case of fried chicken.

Since I had a big lunch earlier, so I ordered a half of fried chicken.

02 ｜Tasting 

 Here comes our chicken!

it was hard to believe it was only a half as it looked REALLY big!

 Crips and hot chicken. mmm.. so good.

   You get extra dish as well, that is fried gizzard!

We got five of them.

They tasted absolutely amazing!

I was tempted to order them more.

You can dip your chicken in this special sacue

which is both sweet and sour. But not too strong flavored which was perfect with chicken.

The sauce was a bit different from other ones that you can get on the supermarkets.

 It tasted even better as it was just cooked.

Help yourself to some radish and sauce.

 I totally forgot that I ate lunch.

I finished it all!

Are you looking for a cozy cafe that is distant from the city?

Let me introduce AVENTINO'S FARM to you.

01 ｜Visit 

 Located in Yongdu-dong, Seo-gu in Gwangju,

AVENTINO'S FARM makes you feel like you are in a special villa in the countryside

 The parking lot is on the left side of the entrance.

I saw many people bring their cars as the place is a bit distant.

Don't worry about the parking as it accomodates enough vehicles.

Go straight and you will find the cafe.

 Plenty of trees on the way to the cafe

as well as beautiful flowers.

They were very pretty!

It is a two-story cafe.

 Up in the second floor, there is even a terrace where you can sip our beverages.

Even though the weather was a bit chilly, but many people were out to see such beautiful view.

 Look at these different types of trees and flowers at one place.

I could sense how much the owener love his cafe anywhere in the cafe.

The cafe itself isn't as large but I could see cute decorations everywhere.

Flowers, little decorations.. so fascinating.

Plus, a super nice owner!

 Not only coffees, but lots of beverages.

Many drinks for kids, too!

You can also taste hand-made tea that the owner made himself.

02 ｜Tasting 

 Me and my friends order banana & strawberry smoothie, white café mocha, and café latte.

We got some of these snacks, too.

 the smoothie was so soft!

strawberry didn’t taste that strong but the combination of two fruits made perfect taste!

 Iced white café mocha! It tasted sweet but a bit bitter, too. You can have whipped cream on it.

 This is café latte. So soft and good. You can see that heart shape on the top? so cute!

The weather was on a bit of chilly side that day, so my choice was good I guess!

 Look at this cute spoon.

It was impressive to see every little decoration and flowers were so well harmonized.

 You can take the bus Daechon 69, Pungam 61 and get off at Hakdong(Seochang) stop.

You will see Yongdu-dong Jiseok-myo signboard across the bus stop.

Follow the signboard and you will find Aventino’s Farm café on the way.

It is easy to find it.

hat about Bulgogi and rice for lunch today?
It is more known as 'Bulbaek' and there is a just perfect restaurant in Gwangju.

After visiting Yandong traditional market I was absolutely starving so decided to go to Yeongchang restaurant!

01 ｜Visit 

 It was already so popular with people located in the market. 

The place is on the second floor of Bokgae building.

If you have trouble finding it, please ask any local people the direction. 

 Use the stairs, you will find its entrance!

 As it was lunch time, so many people were there.

and my friends managed to get a seat though. (lucky!)

Many of them were local.

 The menu looks very simple as many other great restaurants' ones do. Bulgogi with rice is only 6000 won! Can you believe it?

We ordered three Bulgogi baekban.

you can order only Bulgogi baekban. Please keep it mind. :)*

02 ｜Tasting

 ​

It didn't take too long to have our dish! We were waiting for Bulgogi to be cooked. Lots of healthy vegies and noodles on the top!

 The best part of Korean restaurants? Free side dishes! 

We got lots of vegetables and other side dishes!

They tasted so good, too. 

 Well fermented kimchi and other greens.

 This was one of my favorites. Squid dish with sliced cucumber.

 These vegetables for Ssam(쌈) to eat with your main dish. (I will explain it soon!)

An amazing meal only for 6000 won!

 Our bulgogi is ready! So are noodles, mushrooms, and vegetables.

 Koreans love eating meat and other sauce  making them wrapped on leaf geeens such as lettuce. It is called 'Ssam' or food wrapped on greens.

 Here is how to make 'Ssam'. Put your meat on the lettuce, 

 and ssamjang sauce on it.

 Don't forget your water cress,too!

 Not to mention the meat itself (bulgogi) was divine, but eating the dish as Ssam was the best idea!

But you can still eat your meat with rice without vegetables. It still tastes amazing.

 I think it is their sauce (doenjang or soybean paste) that makes everything special.

You can eat sliced law cabbages dipping in doeonjang.

We finished our meal with complete satisfaction!

04 ｜How to get there

Find 'Yangdong Bogae Shopping Center building next to Yangdong market ('na' building)

and use the stairs to the second floor.

On the first floor between those 'Samhwa handmade blanket' 'An earthen wall' with, if you go into the aisle

The restaurant is, you can see all the guardhouse right.

(Nice variety, but this should be right up at the entrance from the entrance to a rising, you can't miss it!)
