[Dong-Gu/Attraction] Dae-in Market

Dae-in Market

From long ago merchants would gather to form markets
in the hubs of transportation or crowded places.
So I would reckon that
the "market" would be that pictures the area's traits.
I would like to introduce the Dae-in Market,
which would not lose to Chung Jang Ro in terms of food and sightseeing.

01 |Visit

Famous for its cheap and quality goods!
Its sashimi center is also known as the pride of GwangJu.
We entered through the East gate.

*You can use Onnuri gift cards at Dae-in Market.
You can purchase them at Gwangju Bank, Woori Bank, IBK Bank, NH Bank, the post office, MG Community Credit Cooperatives
(MG Se-ma-eul Geum-go) and
at the National Credit Union (Shin-hyunb)

Fresh fruits and vegetables greet us at the entrance!
Their colorful and fresh appearance gave me
the urge to buy them right away.
I felt like spending the day in the kitchen cooking away.

Next up are dried food and seafood!
The dried food are made of dried food such as clams and fish.
Various foods such as dried squid, dried seaweed and frozen Pollack are sold.
You can buy them at a really cheap price.

All kinds of seafood such as fish, octopuses, cockles
and sea cucumbers are gathered at the Dae-in Market!

Dae-in Market is not only full of food but also streets
full of clothes and other merchandise.

Unfortunately, we went on a Sunday
so a lot of the shops had closed.
There are plenty more goods than the pictures shown.

Although markets are also a place to buy goods,
it would be a waste not to have a taste of the various food it offers!

In the Food Alley, you can try different foods such as green onion pancakes (pajeon), noodles, spicy stir fried rice cake
(ddeok bbok-ki), chicken feet, and rice soup at a cheap price.

Can't believe a bowl of noodles is only 1,000 won!!
It sure is an aunbelievable price never seen elsewhere!

Dae-in Market is also called as the Dae-in Arts Market.
If you closely look around, you will see arts such as murals,
artistic signboards and installation art!
Shopping and appreciating art at Dae-in Market presents you the happiness of catching two birds with on stone!
*There are 10 cultural spaces and 22 art studios at Dae-in Market.

Dae-in Market is also famous for its night market.
It opens twice a month (every second and fourth week Friday and Saturday) so it would be a great idea to explore the night market too!

02 |Information

Cash is often used at the market so you can use it in case of emergency!

The parking lot is divided into monthly paid lots and regular lots.
The monthly paid lots is where you pay monthly fees to park.

These are the parking fees.
