[Seo_Gu/Attraction] Uncheonsa&Hyangrimsa&Byeongcheonsa temples

Uncheonsa&Hyangrimsa&Byeongcheonsa temples

There are eight sceneries in Seo-gu, Gwangju.
You will get to see Seated Yeorae Image Carved on Rock Surface of Uncheonsa
which is one of them.
Further, get yourself ready to enjoy Korean heritages in the middle of the city
by visiting these two significant temples which are Hyangrim temple and Byeong-cheon temple.

01 |Visit

1, Uncheonsa
While walking around the city, we happened to pass by an apartment complex and see a temple.
It was 'Uncheonsa temple' where you can see the Rock-Carved Seated Buddha Statue,
which is one of so-called the 'eight sceneries' in Seo-gu area.
Climb the stone steps and you can see the statue!
Seated Yeorae Image Carved on Rock Surface is enlisted as
one of tangible cultural assests in city of Gwangju.
More details are on the sign board like the above one in front of the steps.
We were a bit embarrassed because the door was closed.
But a nice buddhist allowed us to use the other door so we could get in.
Thank you for your kindness, sir! :)

Surprisingly, it was a bit cold inside without an air conditioner.
As the weather was very hot, we didn't want to leave. haha.
Many lotus lanterns and drawings related with buddhism have much of buddhist vibes to them.

This is the 'Seated Yeorae Image Carved on Rock Surface'!
It has a story regarding the saint Wonhyo,
but the statue is from the Koryo Dynasty.

2. Hyangrimsa temple
 This is Hyangrimsa temple!
It wasn't easy to find though.
But we were so proud in the end!
As opposed to the back door seems a bit scary,
the entrace was pretty.
With lots of flowers and trees, it didn't feel lke it was a temple.
Climbing the stairs, there were a vareity of cultural heritages on the top of the temple.
But, no signboards with detailed explanation
and not many visitors which was a bit sad.

There was another buddihst statue which was very huge.
Look at how big it is compared to the trees
Hyangrimsa has a special book which is called 'Josang-gyeong'
It is listed as the 28th cultural assests.
We were lucky to see such valuable heritage here.

3. Byeongcheonsa temple
 This is Byeongcheonsa temple.
Not every door was open.
 We found open one.
Let's get in.
Byeongcheonsa temple is for honroing our ancestors
who didn't spare their sacrifice for Korea.

Lots of buildings with unique names inside of the temple.

 We got this booklet.
The temple is for hornoing our ancestorts but
is also for interactions among the eldery in the neighborhood.
