Such an impressive tree!

It's Hakdong zelkova tree~

Back in time, Gwangju was actually a beautiful village in the woods

  However, a lot of trees were being cut down due to urban development in 1960-1970.

 

As a result, only Hakdong tree has remained.

 This tree is over 350 years old.

 

 Right now, Chonnam National University Medical School (Hakdong Campus) takes care of it.

 

 Next to this tree, there are trash bins to keep the tree clean

 

I saw some cigarettes around I ask for not smoking in this area

You can take any of these buses: Jiwon 15, Jinwol 16, Bongsun 27, Ilgok 28, Woonlim 35, Songjung 98.

 And get off at Chosun University College of Engineering bus stop

 

Then, you'll see a crosswalk to Chonnam University Medical School

 

If you get out on the other side of the road, you don't have to cross over

 

This is a back gate of Chonnam Univ. Medical School

 There's a way through a front gate too But this way is shorter~

 

 

As you keep walking to the center of campus about 2-3 minutes,

 You'll see Hakdong zelkova tree!

 

There's another way to come through a front gate if you get off at NamGwangju Market or Chonnam University Hospital bus stop

If you use the subway, get out at NamGwangju station, exit 4~!
