[Seo_Gu/Attraction] Mangwijeong Pavilion

Mangwijeong Pavilion

When you are tired from everyday life,
don’t you want to sit down and rest alone at an open and silent place?

A place that was famous for pleasures during the Joseon era,
a place where one could comfortably rest while viewing beautiful flowers and drinking in clear air.

I wish to introduce Mangwijeong Pavilion, a vacation area within the city.

01 |Visit

Mangwijeong Pavilion is where I arrived full of hope after hearing the rumor that this place is a  well known for cherry blossoms.
This place did not disappoint me at all.

I can confidently say that the image of the cherry blossoms fluttering in the wind
was the most beautiful thing I have seen so far.

Can’t you feel the same thing in the picture?

This is a cherry blossom photographed at Mangwijeong Pavilion.  Isn’t it beautiful?

As soon as I entered Mangwijeong Pavilion, I was taken aback by the scenery and could only let out exclamations.
I feel that Mangwijeong Pavilion is the perfect place if you want to take pretty pictures in Gwangju.
You may think that there may only be green grasses and ponds left when visiting during the summer.
However, because this place is constructed just like a park
with pine trees and canola flowers, in addition to cherry blossoms,
you do not need to worry at all!!
Mangwijeong Pavilion is a pavilion that was built by the descendants of the Jang family from Heungseong, in order to spend  time teaching younger students.
The original building was destroyed;the current building was constructed in 1934.

There are three pavilions in this place including Mangwijeong Pavilion,  along with Seuphyanggak Pavilion and Mukamjeongsa Pavilion.

Mangwi means to recite the nature and enjoy the arts,
The letters ‘Chiseok’ and ‘Sangseok’ engraved on the rocks located on each side of Seuphyanggak Pavilion
mean that one enters in a drunk condition but exits in a sober..

Doesn’t this have an interesting origin?
There is more explanation in detail at the entrance of Mangwijeong Pavilion.
I recommend a leisurely walk
while thinking of our ancestor’s intentions!

This place is Seuphyanggak Pavilion, which is located between Mukamjeongsa Pavilion and Mangwijeong Pavilion.

This is a pretty place to take pictures because it is surrounded by a pond. This place allows us to see the scenery from one place.
This is Mukamjeongsa Pavilion, which is located at the end of Mangwijeong Pavilion.
Because this pavilion is located in front of a bamboo grove,
I could directly feel a cool wind.

This is a walking path located on the other side of Mangwijeong Pavilion.

This is a place where you can enjoy the front view of Mangwijeong Pavilion while sitting on the benches..

There is also a streetlamp, which I thought would be pretty when turned on during the  evening.

I think you may be able to feel a different atmosphere when you visit during the evening.

Why don’t you let go of the difficulties in life
while taking a stroll at Mangwijeong Pavilion?

This is the evening sunset viewed from Mangwijeong Pavilion.

You can feel another atmosphere within the silence. The
image of the pond reflecting the sunset was beautiful.

Mangwijeong Pavilion is the prettiest place I have visited so far!

It is so beautiful, it was selected as one of the Eight Scenic Views of Seo-gu.

Although slightly far from the city,
I highly recommend that you visit this place when you need healing!
